What's next?

I was thinking about this during trip home.   I guess I am a bit tired after finishing 3 sets of problems.   The truth is I may be doing this too quickly.

So, what I hope is to make sure this experience worthwhile.   It is not just a matter of getting good grade and bragging right.   Programming by itself is fun.  It is like Math but you can do something to get it better.

That's why I am thinking I might halt working on homework 3 for a while.   Before that, I will first put all the answers of the exercises in my notebook.    This gives me some time to reflect on the material.

My homework

I decided to make it a policy, always try to submit after I hear all the materials from the lecturer and the teaching assistants.  In that way, I will learn what other people think before commit to a solution.

Given that there is not much change in the first homework, I might go ahead to finish at least another one during the weekend and hopefully the rest in the next week.   Then I will only need to take care of the test and exam. (Hopefully)

Solved another HW problem

Things work out.  It took a while to finish another homework problem.  But it's generally enjoyable experience.

Starting from now, I will probably jot down tip on Java such that my life will be easier next time.  Tidbit on things like how String function should be written should be committed to either my memory or some convenient note.

There is only 1 more question to go.  It requires understanding a technique called recursive backtracking.  This is a little bit different from just recursion.  So I wonder what the term means in this class.

Time to take a break.  I will work on the problem sets again tomorrow.

First programming exercise from the class

It takes around 1-2.5 hours to finish the first programming exercises.  I will say mainly it's because of the setup time.  But other than that, it's no biggy.  I think the 10-20 hour estimates per week is not a bad one from the course instructor.  If one is not experienced with Java, it will take a little bit more time. Strictly speaking, I am not that great neither. But things working reasonably well.

I might want to spend time to put experience of Java into this place as well.  I hope to make sure I learned something during the process.
